Rwanda to Host the World’s Largest Gathering on Agroforestry
This October, Rwanda will host the 6th World Congress on Agroforestry, a landmark event addressing urgent global challenges of climate change, food security, and biodiversity.
Organised by the Ministry of Environment in partnership with the Rwanda Forestry Authority,
CIFOR-ICRAF, the International Union for Agroforestry, Rwanda Green Fund, Rwanda Convention Bureau, and other partners, the congress will convene delegates from over 100 countries. Participants include farmers, researchers, policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society actors.
Under the theme “Agroforestry for People, Planet and Profit,” the congress will showcase how trees on farms can deliver solutions for climate change, biodiversity loss, food insecurity, and rural poverty.
Key discussion areas include:
- Agroforestry in a changing climate
- Biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Livelihoods and food systems
